Loose Gas Cap!
Well last night on my way home my “Service Engine Soon” light came on in our 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. Not being an especially good car-self-fixer guy stuff like this worries me a little bit.
After doing some googling I found that I needed to find the OBD-II code was that was setting off the sensor in order to figure out how to solve the problem.
So first thing this morning I do a little looking around to see where I can get it checked and how much it is going to cost.
Car Dealership: $35
Jiffy Lube: $19.95
AutoZone: Free
So being not stupid I took my car to AutoZone and they were able to tell me that the error code I was getting was a P0440 and reset it for me.
Once I got back to work I was able to find out that a P0440 is the code for Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction (or loose gas cap in English).
So Problem Solved and $0 spent!

Hey, this is a first! This is something I could of helped you with. I solved this problem for Aunt Zelda. Computers I have trouble with ... cars I'm more in tuned with. (okay, sometimes I have to ask Bob ... but not always) ;)
